PLAYERS IN CLEATED FOOTWEAR RIDE MOMENTUM INTO US OPEN WEEK
The world’s number three men’s player is riding a wave of momentum into the U.S. Open this week at Pebble Beach after a dominating seven-stroke victory in the Canadian Open wearing Nike® Vapor React 2 shoes featuring Champ® Zarma Tour cleats. Winners on the LPGA, Web.com and PGA Tour Champions also chose to wear footwear featuring replaceable cleat technology in their victories.
“Having your feet firmly on the ground is critical for golfers of all skill levels,” said John Hohman, senior vice president of marketing for PrideSports®. “That was proven on the major tours this past weekend and we are confident it will be a factor at this week’s U.S. Open where the player who can best handle the conditions usually ends up on top.”
In addition to the winner of the Canadian Open, 31 of the top 42 finishers in that event chose replaceable cleat technology over spikeless/tennis shoes. Other winners in cleats this past weekend included:
- ShopRite LPGA Classic – PUMA® Ignite Blaze Sport Disc shoes with Softspikes® Tornado cleats
- BMW Pro-Am (Web.com) – FootJoy® Icon shoes with metal Champ Stinger cleats
- Mastercard Japan Championship (PGA Tour Champions) – FootJoy Fury shoes with Softspikes Pulsar cleats
Replacement Softspikes and Champ cleats can be purchased in the golf section of most large retailers, sporting goods stores, golf specialty and golf course pro shops across the country. Cleats can also be purchased online from any of these locations, your favorite online store or directly from www.golfspikes.com.
PrideSports is the undisputed leader in the golf cleat segment with its CHAMP and Softspikes brands. The company recommends golfers change their cleats every six to eight months – or even more frequently based on use – to ensure golfers get the maximum performance out of their footwear.
CHAMP’s Helix®, Zarma Tour® and Stinger® cleats, as well as Softspikes’ Pivix®, Pulsar®, Silver Tornado® and Stealth® cleats, dominate the OEM and secondary market in terms of performance and sales. More information can be found at www.champspikes.com and www.softspikes.com.
