Tour Edge with 3 Top 5 Finishes and 7 players in the Top 25 in Naples
It was another huge weekend for golf club manufacturer Tour Edge, who has been experiencing a meteoric rise on the PGA TOUR Champions over the past few seasons.
Their ageless staff player Bernhard Langer won the PGA TOUR Champion’s Chubb Classic in Naples, Fla. Sunday, setting numerous records in the process.
Langer’s 16-under par performance led him to win for the 16th straight year on the PGA TOUR Champions, setting a new mark for consecutive years with a victory.
Langer shot/beat his age for the 3rd time since joining the Tour Edge staff with a 64 in Friday’s opening round.
“It’s just fun shooting your age,” said Langer. “It was really fun doing it the first time on my actual birthday. It’s still special because it’s not easy to do. Hopefully, it gets easier as we get older, but we’ll find out. The future will show.”
He then went on to shoot 68-68 to secure his 43rd PGA TOUR Champions victory, just two wins shy of the all-time record held by Hale Irwin.
It was his 4th title at the Chubb Classic, the longest running event on the Champions Tour. Langer also set the new mark became the oldest winner in Champions history at 64 years, 4 months and 7 days.
The victory is the 15th for Tour Edge clubs in play since they started working full-time with Champions tour players in 2018.
Petrovic was chasing Langer Sunday at Tiburon Golf Club, but every time he made a move, Langer had an answer.
He ended up in solo 2nd place, three shots behind his fellow staff player. It was Petrovic’s 10th runner-up finish on the PGA TOUR Champions since joining the Tour Edge staff.
“It is simply amazing to watch Bernhard Langer dominate at his age, he’s truly a legend of his time with the performances he keeps putting up,” said Tour Edge President David Glod. “To have another 1-2 finish for Tour Edge staffer was a lot of fun to see. Petro gave it yet another run, I feel like he is next in line to get that first Champions victory.”
Seven players in the Top 25 were playing Tour Edge clubs (two staff players and five non-staff players). Tour Edge staffers Ken Duke and Tom Lehman both finished T26.
Fifteen different players (18% of the field) were playing 45 Tour Edge clubs at the Chubb Classic.
Tour Edge has seen 2,403 clubs in play by over 135 different PGA Tour professionals on the three PGA Tours over the last four seasons. In that time, the company has earned 16 wins, 89 Top 5’s and 211 Top 10 finishes.
Tour Edge has been a part of 15 victories and 25 runner-up finishes on the PGA TOUR Champions since 2018 for a total of 40 1st or 2nd place finishes in the last 84 Champions events played (47%).
