BRENTWOOD, Tenn.– After the conclusion of the Memorial Tournament on Sunday, Tour Flex Pro, the latest traction technology from Softspikes, has now been used by 3 of the last 4 PGA Tour winners and has notched 7 total Tournament wins since being released in early 2023.
After being extensively tested by PGA Tour professionals, the popularity amongst professional competitors continues to rise during the 2023 season. At the Memorial Tournament, 46% of the field harnessed the performance benefits of Tour Flex Pro. The number of players putting the latest spike technology into play has grown each week since its strong introduction at the Waste Management Phoenix Open where an incredible 26% of the field put the spike into play in its first week on Tour.
While the players on Tour continue to realize the performance benefits of Tour Flex Pro and Replaceable Traction Technology each week, an independent study was able to quantify the performance benefits for amateur golfers as well. In comparison to a spikeless alternative, golfers in the study were able to increase their average driver distance by five yards while reducing shot dispersion by 40%.
“We’re thrilled to see the adoption rate at which Tour players are making the switch to Tour Flex Pro,” Said Joe Henderson, President, PrideSports. “It validates our efforts in delivering performance benefits through innovative traction technologies. More exciting for us, though, is the fact that amateurs have access to the same technology and performance benefits that the best players in the world do.”
Tour players change grips and traction regularly based on course conditions, but amateur golfers rarely think about impacts on consistency and distance. To achieve optimal performance benefits, golfers should be swapping out their spikes every 15 rounds. The Tour Flex Pro can be found at Softspikes.com and major golf and sporting goods retailers nationwide.
Softspikes is the #1 spike on the PGA Tour and leader in golf cleat technology. Manufactured by PrideSports® and founded in 1993 following a winter metal spike “ban” endorsed by several U.S. State Golf Associations, Softspikes became the industry’s first and only patented non-metal cleat. Offering enhanced traction, added comfort and improved performance, Softspikes replacement spikes can be purchased on Softspikes.com or through major retailers, sporting goods and golf specialty stores and pro shops nationwide.
The Brand Amp
Independent research conducted by The Golf Lab. Testing included seven swings on wet grass pitting Softspikes Tour Flex Pro alongside spikeless shoes. The data revealed increased horizontal impact location by 32% and vertical impact consistency by 22%. The largest changes were found in golfers with a swing speed above 110 mph. In those cases, players averaged 5.2 more yards in total distance and their dispersion reduced by an astonishing 60%. In addition, high swing speed golfers achieved 40% more accuracy and 46% more consistent distance. The research unequivocally reinforced that spiked cleats provide golfers more consistency hitting the sweet spot, improved distance and accuracy.
