LORETO, Baja California, Mexico — For the second consecutive year, TPC Danzante Bay has earned the recognition as Mexico’s Best Golf Course by WorldGolfAwards.
This spectacular Rees Jones-designed golf course, situated along the Sea of Cortez and Baja’s majestic Sierra de la Giganta mountain range, has received numerous accolades and worldwide acclaim since opening in 2017.
TPC Danzante Bay was named one of the Top 100 Golf Resorts in North America (2019-20) by GOLF Magazine, received an Editors’ Choice Award (2019) and Editors’ Choice for “Best in Travel 2018” from Golf Digest. Golf Odysseynamed TPC Danzante Bay ‘New Course of the Year’ (2018), while Golf Advisor proclaimed it “Best of 2018: Mexico” and Golf Aficionado, Best New Golf Course (2018).
Each hole, with five sets of tees measuring from 4,916 to 7,237 yards on this par-72 beauty, are defined by coastline, valleys, arroyos, dunes, and foothills. The golf course features wide fairways and greens that must be carefully judged but are never unfair. Most of the entrances to the greens are open—allowing approach shots to run on safely—while the holes along the cliffs feature strategically placed collection areas to keep errant shots from taking the plunge into the blue water below.
In addition to this honor, TPC Danzante Bay was also recognized by Elite Travel a global luxury lifestyle magazine, as one of the Top Luxury Hotel Golf Courses in the World. The short list, which was curated for the Spring issue of the elite publication, includes just nine golf courses in the world, making it an even greater accomplishment for TPC Danzante Bay, Mexico’s only TPC golf course, and Villa del Palmar at the Islands of Loreto, the golf resort that has been hailed over the years as Mexico and Central America’s Leading Resort.
“Having our golf course receive this significant recognition is truly an honor,” said Owen Perry, co-owner of The Villa Group. “We are extremely proud of our course and our staff works incredibly hard to make sure each person who plays a round has an unforgettable experience.”
TPC Danzante Bay is the centerpiece of a luxury master-planned resort community adjacent to the coastline of Baja’s inland marine sanctuary. The Villa del Palmar Beach Resort & Spa sits on a sprawling stretch of white-sand beach along Danzante Bay, where the natural habitat includes 900 species of fish. Guests can enjoy world-class sport fishing, swimming, snorkeling, paddle boarding, kayaking, and whale watching. In addition to championship golf and the luxurious Sabila Spa, the resort features six swimming pools, tennis courts, miles of well-marked hiking trails, and kayaks.
Located 300 miles north of Los Cabos, Loreto is only a two-hour flight from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) via Alaska Airlines. In December American Airlines will begin flying from Dallas and Phoenix to Loreto.
