About Royal Dutch Golf Federation (NGF) and GOLF.NL

NGF
The NGF stands for the Royal Dutch Golf Federation. The NGF has about 270 affiliated associations with 430,000 registered golfers, making it the fourth sports association in the Netherlands after football, tennis and fishing.

The NGF focuses primarily on the health of golf in the medium to long term. Important here are a good age structure and a balanced influx and outflow of golfers. It is also emphasized that financially sound golf courses are needed with sufficient capacity and with a (membership) offer that meets the needs of different golfers. The NGF has set itself the goal of attracting more women and young people between 25 and 50 years old to the game and thus increasing the percentage from 32% to 40% women and young people who play golf.

GOLF.NL

GOLF.NL is the online platform for golfing Netherlands, for anyone interested in golf, from beginners to experienced golfers. The platform has 236.000 visitors every month and the weekly newsletter is sent to 170.000 subscribers. On www.golf.nl they can find all the golf news, information about golf rules, equipment, travel and for inspiring stories about all the beauty that golf has to offer. They also find numerous instructional videos. GOLF.NL aims to be an appealing communication platform for all golfers, with a special eye for the young and female golfer, in alignment with the NGF strategy to get more young people and women to play golf.

The legacy of the Solheim Cup in the Netherlands should extend beyond the event itself: a lasting boost for women’s golf, greater inclusivity in the sport, and a strengthening of golf’s sustainable and societal position.

Alongside Celebrate Nature, Celebrate Women is also central. With the launch of the SAM program on opening day, the NGF is taking an important step towards a fairer and more future-proof playing field. The Solheim Cup is the moment to position golf in the Netherlands not as a men’s or women’s game, but as a sport where equality is the norm.
