The launch of Tracy, TrackMan’s new AI, is a new era in sports technology.
As a world leader in data-driven sports insights, TrackMan has long been convinced that AI will revolutionize the way players and coaches work. Tracy AI is now embedded in TrackMan Performance Studio. For TrackMan, a lot of research, hard work, and the use of technology that pushes the borders of what is currently possible has finally paid off.
Tracy was unveiled at the 2020 PGA show in Orlando, FL and made an immediate impression. Golf Digest even had Tracy at the top of their list of the coolest thing at the show. There is no doubt that Tracy is at the forefront of AI in the golf industry.
Maximize practice gains
Tracy uses AI and a database of over 500 million shots – and counting – to give you the one thing to focus on that will improve your game. Practice becomes immensely satisfying and rewarding for players, as they can see their improvements shot by shot.
The benefits of working with Tracy are not confined to players. Tracy is an extraordinarily important tool for coaches as well. When players are given their one thing to work on, it’s the coach that can then give them guidance as to how to change their game to meet Tracy performance recommendations. This makes the coach’s expertise – and their value – immediately apparent.
The most effective solution – found instantly
Tracy asks the player to take a series of shots, updating and adjusting the findings with every shot. Tracy then displays unique insights covering trajectory type, curve, optimal distance and dispersion pattern before showing the one thing to work on.
Tracy’s recommendation is unique to each player. The parameter to work on is based on the assessed data and expressed as an optimum number that the player has to hit. Tracy gives the player a +/- “corridor” of tolerance around this optimal number. Players aim to achieve numbers that place their actions within Tracy’s stated tolerance. Each shot is measured as a pass, which is inside the corridor, or fail, which is outside.
The level of each player’s ability is taken into account, so less experienced golfers are given a wider tolerance – and therefore a broader corridor – to work with. All users can always be sure that Tracy has given them the most effective way to practice and improve their game.
Tracy has the potential to fundamentally change the player and coach workflow through a clearer understanding of data and more focused practice. It’s going to be an exciting time!
”This is just the beginning of the Tracy journey. As our database and our technical capabilities evolve, so will Tracy. In time, she will be embedded in every TrackMan product.” – Niklas Bergdahl, Product Owner, TrackMan.
