(BRYAN, Texas) – Traditions Club and Community – the home of the Texas A&M University golf teams – announces its Jack Nicklaus / Jack Nicklaus II championship golf course soared to No. 28 in the Dallas Morning News Texas Golf’s 2018 ranking of the state’s best layouts.
The 17-spot ascent in the annual rankings once again made Traditions Club the top university-affiliated layout in the state. The top-30 ranking also is the highest-ever finish for Traditions Club since it debuted in the 2006 rankings.
Nearly 100 panelists from across Texas – PGA professionals, high-ranking amateurs, golf-design experts, golf journalists and other industry luminaries – evaluated 800-plus courses using criteria such as shotmaking, versatility, design, memorability, beauty, maintenance and enjoyment.

Designed by Jack Nicklaus and Jack Nicklaus II, the 7,146-yard Traditions Course navigates thick stands of hardwoods while traversing rolling terrain unique to the Brazos Valley. The club has been the site of numerous marquee tournaments for the Texas Golf Association, and played host to the 2011 NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championship, the 2016 NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Regional and the 2018 NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Regional.
