PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – (January 29, 2021) – The International Network of Golf Media Awards, presented the week of the annual PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, have been very good to both the Traveling Golfer television show and the GolfTalk Live radio show over the years.
And they were again this year.
Despite the “virtual” format of the PGA Merchandise Show, there was still plenty of excitement for the annual media awards – which attracted a record number of entries this year, up 30 percent over last year.
In the Radio Segment category, Tony Leodora’s riveting interview on GolfTalk Live with Hall of Famer Gary Player won an Outstanding Achievement Award. The subject of the interview was Player’s selection for the prestigious Medal of Honor by then-President Donald Trump and the South African native’s emotional response to being honored in a country that he has come to love deeply.
In the Internet Content category, Traveling Golfer producer Jamie McWilliams won an Outstanding Achievement Award for his visually stunning feature segment on Touring Northern Ireland, which appeared in the May episode of the Traveling Golfer television show.
“To keep winning these awards every year is amazing, especially in light of the heightened competition,” remarked Leodora. “We have had such an excellent team at both the Traveling Golfer and GolfTalk Live. Their professionalism is the reason for our success.”
In its 13-year history, the GolfTalk Live radio show has been named the No. 1 Golf Radio Show in America three times at the annual Media Awards.
In four of the last six years, the Traveling Golfer television show has been honored as the No. 1 Golf Television Show in America.
The Traveling Golfer airs as a scheduled weekly feature show on NBC Sports and NBC Sports + throughout four markets in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic markets. The show also airs nationally, every day, on the Fun Roads Network (funroads.tv/schedule), which has undergone a major expansion recently. It can be seen in markets across the United States – including San Francisco, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Wichita, Detroit, Chicago, Houston, Philadelphia, Washington State, North Dakota, Raleigh, Orlando, San Jose and Boise. Additionally, national and international expansion has taken place via connected TV on Roku, Amazon Fire, SelectTV and GlewedTV.
Responding to golfers’ never-ending demands to learn more about interesting golf courses and golf resorts across the country and around the world, well-traveled host Tony Leodora created the Traveling Golfer in February of 2013 so he could take viewers on video trips to some of the most exciting golf locations.
The Traveling Golfer is a series of monthly shows hosted by Leodora, who has 20 years of experience in televised golf. The featured destination stays on the website for one month, before being replaced by a new show. The old shows are archived for continued viewing on home website, www.travelinggolfervideo.com..
After 13 years on broadcast radio, the GolfTalk Live show moved to a podcast format in January of 2021. Co-hosted by Allen DePuy, the show now can be heard on a number of podcast platforms including Apple Podcast, Spotify, Radio.com, Google Podcasts and TuneIn.
