Monterey, Calif. – Jessica Luo of Harvard University’s Women’s Golf Team and Alex Lin of Cornell University Men’s Golf Team were recently recognized among 98 Ivy League student-athletes earning Academic All-Ivy distinctions for spring sports. Both Luo, who hails from San Jose, and Lin, from San Carlos, Calif., are students of The Club at Pasadera’s PGA Instructor Patrick Parrish.
“Jessica Luo and Alex Lin reflect the highest standards of student athletes as Academic All-Ivy selections,” said Parrish. “Jessica has always been able to balance her responsibilities including the Harvard golf team, her community service through her church, and her academics as a neuroscience major. Alex has skillfully handled the weight of an engineering major in combination with the high demands of golf by quickly absorbing and applying whatever challenges are put before him.”
Institutions nominated one student-athlete from each of the 13 Ivy League sponsored sports to be included on the Academic All-Ivy teams. Student-athletes must be in good academic standing to be eligible for the award.
“Jessica and Alex furnish impressive proof that hard work and perseverance pay off. Moreover, and equally important, they are caring individuals, as well. It has always been my honor to be not only their coach, but also part of their lives that extend beyond golf,” added Parrish.
Parrish has been developing collegiate athletes since 1995, but specializes in golf instruction for all ages and skill levels. In 2017, he was voted the “Northern California PGA Teacher of the Year” and joined The Club at Pasadera team in 2012. He is a certified/authorized instructor of The Golfing Machine, The Titleist Performance Institute and Master of The Impact Zone.
“We are very proud of Jessica and Alex for their academic and on-course accomplishments,” said The Club at Pasadera General Manager and COO, Kurt Burmeister. “We’re also happy for Patrick as he is a proud and accomplished instructor, who is passionate about his students and their success.”
