Dubai, UAE. – Troon International managed courses are poised for a pulsating start to 2024, hosting four elite tournaments, from three world renowned tours, in the opening quarter of the year. This includes back-to-back DP World Tour events at Al Hamra Golf Club, UAE (25-28 January) and Royal Golf Club, Bahrain (1-4 February), before the Asian Tour’s International Series Oman visits the newest Troon facility, Al Mouj Golf (22-25 February). Finally, LIV Golf will return to the Royal Greens Golf and Country Club, Saudi Arabia (1-3 March).
The four tournaments in the Middle East for Troon International will follow the hugely successful PGA Tour event at the Plantation Course in Kapalua, Hawaii managed by Troon. The Sentry Tournament of Champions (US) saw Chris Kirk edge a field of Major champions, including Jordan Spieth and World No.1 Scottie Scheffler, to claim the $3.6m prize, setting the tone for another fantastic year of competitions for Troon courses.
DJ Flanders, Executive Vice President of Troon International said: “We are honored to support these four exceptional golf courses once again in these flagship events. As they prepare to host world-class events, we remain committed to providing unparalleled quality and maintenance expertise. We thank our owners, the tournament sponsors and respective Tours for their trust in Troon.
“We eagerly anticipate showcasing Al Hamra Golf Club, Royal Golf Club Bahrain, Al Mouj Golf, and Royal Greens Golf and Country Club in the upcoming months to both national and global audiences. These events showcase our unparalleled commitment to quality and maintenance, whilst the expertise of our dedicated professional associates who manage the day-to-day operations at our facilities proves to be crucial.”
In the last week of January, the DP World Tour will visit Al Hamra Golf Club in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, as part of the Middle East double header, where defending champion Daniel Gavins, Alex Fitzpatrick and Rasmus Højgaard will take part. This will be the third edition of the Ras Al Khamiah Championship and has a history of hosting prestigious events, having previously hosted the European Challenge Tour Grand Final.
A week later, the DP World Tour returns to Bahrain at the Royal Golf Club for the first time in 13 years. Ahead of the Bahrain Championship, the golf course has undergone extensive enhancements over the past months, with a number of the front nine holes restored to their former glory after successful greens redesign and rebuild. Troon International’s elite management has enabled the prestigious club to host high tier events once again and continues to contribute to the golf club’s ongoing success.
One of the most prestigious golf courses in the Middle East, Al Mouj Golf, will host the first event on the International Series calendar at the end of February. Last year’s edition attracted a world class field of 131 players including the Major winners, Graeme McDowell, Sergio Garcia, and Brooks Koepka. This outstanding golf facility, designed by the legendary Greg Norman, stands out as the region’s first links-style course, adding a unique and challenging dimension to the golf experience.
Cho Minn Thant, Commissioner & CEO of the Asian Tour commented: “We are delighted to return to Al Mouj Golf, a golf course up there with the best in the world and one that is always in impeccable condition. International Series Oman will be the first event of the 2024 International Series calendar and given our fantastic first experience last year at the venue, we expect a stellar field again this year. We look forward to sharing more news soon on the field.”
In the first weekend of March, LIV Golf will return to the Royal Greens Golf and Country Club, with the gem of the red sea set to host the world’s best, with Major champions Jon Rahm, Dustin Johnson and Bryson DeChambeau amongst those set to take to the field. Crafted by European Golf Design, the course stands amongst some of the finest in the region, incorporating strategic elements reminiscent of the world’s greatest golf courses.
Troon-managed courses boast some of the finest playing surfaces globally, ensuring a showcase of top-tier golf events on a global scale. Over the upcoming months, both players and spectators can anticipate a five-star experience, as the world’s premier club management company, Troon, aims to kickstart the year by exemplifying its exceptional standards in golf course management at each event.
