U.S. Women’s Open Champion Trusts Softspikes as Major Dominance Continues

June 9, 2026

Brentwood, Tenn.,   – Softspikes has continued its dominant run across the global professional game after the winner of the U.S. Women’s Open trusted spikes underfoot to claim a dramatic major championship victory at Riviera Country Club.

The world No. 1 delivered under pressure in California, closing with a final-round 69 to finish eight under par and secure a one-shot victory on one of the biggest stages in women’s golf. A crucial birdie on the par-five 17th hole proved decisive, before a composed par at the last completed a landmark win while wearing Nike golf shoes with Tornado spikes.

The result means all men’s and women’s majors contested so far this season has now been won by players wearing spikes, further underlining the role of underfoot stability, control and confidence when the margins are at their finest.

It also continues a growing trend across the women’s game, with more of the world’s leading female players choosing spikes in the biggest moments. That shift mirrors what has already been seen across the men’s professional game, where spikes remain the clear choice for players looking to compete at the highest level.

Softspikes’ momentum also continued on the PGA TOUR, where the Memorial Tournament winner trusted FootJoy golf shoes with Tour Flex Pro spikes to secure victory after a thrilling final round and playoff finish in Ohio.

The champion recovered from back-to-back bogeys on the 12th and 13th holes to birdie three of the last five holes in regulation, including a clutch putt on the 18th, before securing the biggest victory of his career on the second playoff hole.

The result marked Softspikes’ 22nd straight winning week on the PGA TOUR since the start of the season, while 30 of the top 35 finishers at the Memorial Tournament chose replaceable spikes over spikeless or tennis-style shoes.

Success was not limited to the PGA TOUR and the women’s major stage. The Korn Ferry Tour winner at the BMW Charity Pro-Am trusted FootJoy golf shoes with Tour Flex Pro spikes, while the winning team at the PGA TOUR Champions American Family Insurance Championship also relied on Softspikes technology, with Tour Flex Pro, Tornado and ProStinger spikes all represented.

Softspikes also claimed another DP World Tour victory at the KLM Open, where the champion won wearing FootJoy golf shoes featuring a Pulsar and ProStinger combination.

“This has been an incredible season for Softspikes, and seeing another major champion win wearing spikes is a powerful reminder of their importance at the highest level of the game,” said Joe Henderson, President of Softspikes. “What is especially exciting is the momentum we are now seeing across the women’s game. More of the world’s best female players are choosing spikes, and the results are speaking for themselves.

“When you combine that with 22 straight winning weeks on the PGA TOUR and further victories across the Korn Ferry Tour, PGA TOUR Champions and DP World Tour, it reinforces what the best players continue to show us: when performance matters most, spikes remain the preferred choice.”

With every major championship contested so far this season won by players wearing spikes, alongside 22 straight winning weeks on the PGA TOUR and victories across multiple global tours, Softspikes continues to reinforce its position as the choice of the game’s best players.

Tour players routinely change spikes based on course conditions, but many amateur golfers overlook traction’s impact on consistency and distance. For optimal performance, golfers should replace spikes every 15 rounds.
