Long-time PGA professional Joe Cheves, 89, died on July 31 in Morganton, N.C. Cheves qualified and played in two U.S. Opens, two PGA Championships, 10 Senior PGA Championships and three U.S. Senior Opens. He also qualified for two PGA Professional National Championships. He was a four-time winner of the Carolinas PGA Seniors and a three-time runner-up.
