Adams Golf Sets Record With Most Hybrids In Play At Any Champions Tour Event

Adams Golf reports that, according to the Darrell Survey, more hybrids were in play at the Senior PGA Championship this past weekend than any other single event in the history of the Champions, PGA or Nationwide tours. A total of 173 hybrids were used and the Adams Golf Idea a2 hybrid claimed the No. 1 spot in the equipment count with 74 being played.

Ten More Players Exempt For 2006 U.S. Women's Open; 71 Now Fully Exempt

Four U.S. Golf Association champions were among the 10 golfers to earn full exemptions into the 2006 U.S. Women’s Open with the close of another exemption category. Brandie Burton (1989 Girls’ Junior), Julieta Granada (2004 Girls’ Junior), Virada Nirapathpongporn (2003 Women’s Amateur) and Aree Song (1999 Girls’ Junior) were added to the field based on their ranking in the top 35 on the LPGA money list as of May 29.

Nine More Players Are Exempt For U.S. Open; Total Now 79

Geoff Ogilvy, Rod Pampling and Rory Sabbatini, each a winner on the PGA Tour this season, are three of the nine golfers who earned full exemptions into the U.S. Open with the close of three active categories as of May 30. The other six who earned full exemptions by being in the top 50 of the updated world rankings are Paul Casey, Robert Allenby, Darren Clarke, Trevor Immelman, Zach Johnson and Tom Lehman.
