eGull Pay Shares Stats on Usage and Growing Revenue

Since its release in the United States at the 2018 PGA Show in Orlando, Florida, eGull Pay has continued to grow and is now in operations at more than 150 golf courses worldwide. At the Golf Inc. Strategies Summit, eGull Pay USA CEO Pascal Stolz will share revealing statistics on eGull Pay usage and contributions to growing rounds and revenue. For example, the largest golf operator using the eGull Pay App and yield management solution, Blue Green, recently profiled their top 80 heaviest eGull Pay users and results strongly confirmed the value of the service for any operator:
- 38% of Blue Green heavy eGull Pay users were “range rats” who rarely found the time to play on a course. Thanks to eGull Pay they now play 5 to 7 holes on a regular basis, a new source of revenue in addition to their range sessions.
- 26% of Blue Green heavy eGull Pay users were “lost golfers” who hadn’t played golf at a Blue Green facility for over 6 to 12 months. With eGull Pay Blue Green was able to re-activate these occasional golfers to play more.
In the United States a series of datapoints are stating to be quite indicative. Of all the courses using eGull Pay the following can be drawn:
- Golfers play an average of 7 holes, typically after 3PM
- Over 70% of golfers who have played once on eGull Pay play again on eGull Pay
- Active golf courses are seeing revenue growth month over month
Lastly, a regional golf association and strategic partner of eGull Inc. conducted a survey of golfers asking, among many others, a simple question: If you know you don’t have time to play 18 holes and a golf course gave you the opportunity to play and pay for only the holes that you played, would you be more likely to play more golf? Out of the nearly 3,000 golfers responding to the survey, 38% said “Yes.” Furthermore, when these golfers were asked in a multiple-choice question “What times would be most appealing for play-and-pay-by-the-hole golf,” the preferred time slots were “after work” and “twilight” (45% and 35%, respectively) which are precisely the tee times golf operators find hard to fill. While quite significantly to boost revenue it should not be omitted that an outstanding 39% responded “Any time of day,” clearly indicating the desire of golfers to squeeze in a few holes in their free time.
As will be discussed at the Revenue Management Tools to Boost Your Bottom Line session held at the Golf Inc. Strategies Summit these results are clear indications that golf course operators who will embrace the fact that “TIME” is a rare commodity, that golfers cherish time, that a solution to allow these golfers to play on their own time can bring dramatic revenue growth opportunities. A simple back of the envelope extrapolation points to a revenue opportunity for golf course operators well over $130,000,000 nationally – just one round for every occasional golfer playing 7 holes at $2/hole.
