Leading Technology Company Partners With Myrtle Beach-Based Tournament
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — V1 Sports, golf’s leader in video analysis software and mobile apps to help golfers improve their swing and their score, has been named title sponsor of the General Hackler Championship, one of America’s premier collegiate golf tournaments.
With more than 10,000 coaches and 4 million lessons delivered over its video instruction platforms, V1 Sports has become the industry standard in video analysis solution for the most respected coaches, instructors, athletes, and training facilities around the world. Additionally, the breakthrough new V1 Game app turns golfer’s mobile phone or Apple Watch into a personal caddie, game performance tracker and pocket golf coach. V1 Game’s powerful GPS data provides accurate yardages to greens, hazards and landing zones to help navigate courses like a pro. Post-round, V1 Game’s intuitive performance analysis technology provides a wealth of articulated statistics that reveal the user’s strengths, weaknesses and paths to scoring improvement.
The V1 team will be onsite during the General Hackler Championship, demonstrating how its industry-leading technology, including the V1 shot-data-rich Game app, works. Additionally, V1 will be installing it’s state-of-the-art technology in the headquarters of Project Golf, located on the driving range at Barefoot Resort, allowing the grow-the-game initiative to help new players improve as quickly as possible.
The 20th annual V1 Sports General Hackler Championship, hosted by Coastal Carolina University, will be held March 14-16 at the famed Dunes Golf & Beach Club in Myrtle Beach. The 16-team tournament will feature seven Power 5 conference schools and nationally-ranked North Florida.
Among the big names who have participated in the General Hackler Championship are Dustin Johnson, Patrick Reed, Will Zalatoris, Sam Burns and Cameron Champ. Coastal Carolina’s Zack Taylor captured medalist honors at last year’s event and will return to defend his crown.
A Robert Trent Jones Sr. classic, the Dunes Club, which has hosted six Senior PGA Tour Championships and the U.S. Women’s Open, among other high-profile events, will provide a stern test for the game’s best collegiate players.
The event is named in honor of Major General James F. Hackler, a distinguished military leader who retired to the area and became a leading advocate for Coastal Carolina and the Myrtle Beach golf community.
