The 20th annual V1 Sports General Hackler Championship, hosted by Coastal Carolina University, will be held March 14-16 at the famed Dunes Golf & Beach Club in Myrtle Beach. The 16-team tournament will feature seven Power 5 conference schools and nationally-ranked North Florida.
Among the big names who have participated in the General Hackler Championship are Dustin Johnson, Patrick Reed, Will Zalatoris, Sam Burns and Cameron Champ. Coastal Carolina’s Zack Taylor captured medalist honors at last year’s event and will return to defend his crown.
A Robert Trent Jones Sr. classic, the Dunes Club, which has hosted six Senior PGA Tour Championships and the U.S. Women’s Open, among other high-profile events, will provide a stern test for the game’s best collegiate players.
The event is named in honor of Major General James F. Hackler, a distinguished military leader who retired to the area and became a leading advocate for Coastal Carolina and the Myrtle Beach golf community.
