Buffalo, NY. OnCore Golf ambassador and world-famous golf artist Valentino Dixon has been invited as a special guest to the 2021 Augusta Mayor’s Masters Reception and Gala. Valentino is a world-renowned golf artist who spent 27 years of his life in prison for a crime he did not commit. A story by Max Adler of Golf Digest ultimately helped raise visibility on Valentino’s plight and an appeal case that led to his exoneration in September of 2018.
Valentino spent the first years of his incarceration ignoring the talent that he had for drawing but was eventually persuaded by a family member to reignite that passion while behind bars. At one point, the Attica prison warden asked him to draw his favorite hole at Augusta National (#12) which then led to a collection of golf drawings and a passion for golf – a sport he had never played previously.
Valentino grew up in Buffalo, NY, the headquarters of OnCore Golf and, after seeing news coverage of the incredible story, OnCore’s cofounder, Steve Coulton, reached out to meet Valentino and hear it firsthand. Coulton recently conducted an interview for Valentino to share his story and message of hope with the golf community ahead of the upcoming Masters tournament.
