West Caldwell, NJ, — The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) has announced that Passaic-based Valley Bank, one of the most trusted and respected banks in the industry, has teamed-up with the 2021 LPGA Cognizant Founders Cup to serve as a supporting sponsor for the tournament, which takes place at historic Mountain Ridge Country Club in West Caldwell, N.J., from October 6-10. The sponsorship features a series of programs and on-site activations.
Olympic Gold Medalist and the world’s #1 ranked women’s golfer, Nelly Korda, will headline a 132-player field for the 2021 LPGA Cognizant Founders Cup (www.thefounderslpga.com), a week-long event in Northern NJ where competitors will compete for a $3 million purse, the largest purse for an LPGA Tour event outside the majors and the CME Group Tour Championship. The tournament, which debuted in 2011, pays tribute to the 13 founding members of the LPGA, including surviving founders Marlene Bauer Hagge and Shirley Spork.
As a sponsor, Valley will host three marquee events affiliated with the tournament, including:
- Mentor Monday with Valley Bank: Monday, October 4, Mentors from Valley will host youth mentees from 10am to 1pm at Mountain Ridge Country Club to learn about the many jobs available in golf and sports.
- Junior Golf Day: Saturday, October 9 at the Cognizant Founders Cup offers a full line-up of interactive activities throughout the day that will introduce kids to the game of golf.
- What’s Fore Lunch presented by Valley Bank: Quarterly women’s business networking series, including golf clinic and luncheon, held at Mountain Ridge CC and featuring guest speakers and LPGA representatives who connect aspects of business with elements of golf.
“We’re thrilled to team-up with Valley as a sponsor of some of the most important programs associated with the Cognizant Founders Cup,” said Tracy Hupko, Sales & Marketing Manager, Cognizant Founders Cup. “They are a strong supporter of the game, and women in business, and their commitment to our Mentor Monday, Junior Golf Day and What’s Fore Lunch programs allows us to continue engaging, empowering, and supporting girls and women through this great sport.”
The Cognizant Founders Cup joins a long list of prominent events to be held at Mountain Ridge Country Club, including: the U.S. Senior Amateur Championship in 2012; the Metropolitan Golf Association Open Championship in 1985, 1996, 2000 and 2020; the MGA’s Ike Stroke-Play Championship in 2007; the New Jersey PGA Section Championship in 1962, 1990, 2007, 2009 and 2017; and the French American Challenge in 1997. The Ross-designed and highly regarded course opened in 1931 and has varied little in 90 years. It is known for wide fairways and deceptive greens. A recent restoration has brought many of Ross’s characteristic run-off areas back to their original closely mowed state.
Individual tickets and week-long ticket packages for the Cognizant Founders Cup can be purchased at www.thefounderslpga.com.
