Training products and intuitive tech already are in play for several MLB teams
TULSA, Okla. – SuperSpeed Golf, one of the leaders in golf overspeed training equipment and technology, is excited to announce the launch of VELO Sports, LLC, a baseball training aid company that specializes in batting technology and a full line of game-changing products.
VELO Sports will focus on the production of baseball training products, training programs, and training tech to help baseball players optimize bat speed. It was founded by the creators of SuperSpeed Golf, LLC, one of the leaders in golf overspeed training equipment and technology.
“The motion of the baseball swing is nearly identical to a golf swing in the aspects of Ground Force production, sequencing, and even the way the arms and hands work to deliver the club or bat, and it is a natural progression to use OverSpeed Training effectively in both sports,” said Mike Napoleon, CEO of VELO Sports, LLC. “In fact, this training has been used in more crude ways much longer in baseball than it has in golf. We’ve just taken this training to the next level and made it as simple as possible for the player.”
After undergoing rigorous product testing, advancements, and development, VELO Sports boasts an impressive line of training products, including the VELO Overspeed Bat System, the VELO Puck, and PRGR Radar.
The VELO Overspeed Bat System is a redesigned and significantly enhanced version of SuperSpeed Golf’s SuperSpeedSlugger Training System. While the previous version was successful including being used by a number of major league organizations and players including World Series MVP Corey Seager and All-Star Alex Bregman, the new VELO Sports version has a much simpler and more functional design. The Boston Red Sox, Texas Rangers and Kansas City Royals are some of the first MLB teams to adopt the new design.
Additionally, VELO Sports has partnered with the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA). With this partnership, VELO Sports will be providing education and training to the top coaches organization in baseball as well as presenting at their annual convention next January in Washington DC.
“VELO Sports is committed to empowering and bettering the player, and our training aids and technology rely on the tried and true method of using overspeed training to boost bat speed, increase power and drive results,” Mike Napoleon CEO. “We’re already seeing several players at various levels of play see real results in terms of improvements in bat speed, so we’re excited to be able to share our full line of products and training methodologies with players of all ages.”
The VELO Overspeed Training System Is the future of Overload/Underload Training in baseball. Boasting a much simpler and more functional design than anything else on the market, the VELO Overspeed Bat System has optimized the weight of training bats around the players game bat, and provided a simple solution for effective bat speed training
Available in three different sizes for both baseball and softball, the VELO Overspeed Bat System comes with a base bat and two specifically weighted sleeves that easily slide onto the bat to gradually increase the load.
The product focuses on the neuromuscular control of the swing by making the player’s body move faster with the lighter weight bats and maintain this speed with the heavier. The training protocols created by VELO Sports also help to optimize ground reaction forces, sequencing, and bat delivery. Players see an average gain of six percent in bat speed in the first six weeks of training, and a demonstration of the system is available here.
A perfect complement to the VELO Overspeed Bat System, the PRGR Radar is a multi-purpose radar that measures bat speed, exit velocity and pitch velocity. It can provide bat speed and exit velo as well as tracking average speed, max speed and swing count when used during an Overspeed System session. The PRGR Radar has been tested against more expensive radars on the market and scored within 1 to 2 percent, providing access to world-class equipment at a reasonable price point.
VELO Sports is currently developing a mobile app to incorporate cutting-edge mechanics training with seamless data tracking to show gains from the training programs. The app will include training videos with professional coaches, peer comparison in speed gains, and detailed instruction on how to get the most out of speed training.
A premium section will open up more than 20 new protocols, offer a self-assessment of the player’s game, power generation strategies, and mechanical tendencies. Advanced AI will help make optimal training recommendations based on the results of this assessment.
