This announcement comes at a great time as Vortex recently launched RainIQTM, (Rain Instant Quote), an online rain insurance portal. Rainfall is calculated within a 2.5 mile-square box that includes the actual insured location. This innovation by Vortex allows for greater
precision and accuracy – as compared to using an existing weather station as a measurement point that may be ten or even twenty miles away. This allows Vortex to provide data-driven hourly policies that are extremely affordable and help protect a tournament’s bottom line.
RainIQ is unique because ‘proof of loss’ is not required for the insurance to pay a claim. A rain insurance claim occurs simply when the defined rainfall amount is recorded by a verifiable independent and localized source (not at an airport) during the defined coverage period. When rainfall takes your event to cart paths only, but you are able to play through it, rain insurance can help recoup lost revenue.
