THE WARBURTON CELEBRITY GOLF TOURNAMENT AT THE CLASSIC CLUB RAISES $2.2 MILLION FOR ST. JUDE CHILDREN’S RESEARCH HOSPITAL
Palm Desert, Calif. (April 23, 2019) – The Classic Club in Palm Desert, Calif., recently hosted The Warburton Celebrity Golf Tournament to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The 9th annual tournament raised $2.2 million, raising the grand total to more than $12 million donated to St. Jude since the tournament’s inception.
The Warburton is named after comedic actor and voice artist, Patrick Warburton who played David Puddy on Seinfeld; the title role on The Tick; Jeb Denton on Less Than Perfect; Jeff Bingham on Rules of Engagement; and Lemony Snicket on A Series of Unfortunate Events.
Held March 2nd and 3rd at The Classic Club, The Warburton Celebrity Golf Tournament featured more than 75 celebrities, including rock and country legends, songwriters, actors, and sports figures. The Classic Club has hosted The Warburton since 2011.
“The Warburton is the highest grossing golf tournament for St. Jude nationwide,” said The Classic Club’s General Manager Greg Rubino, who also serves on locally-based Board of Directors. “The Classic Club is proud to host this incredible charitable event each year. It continues to get bigger and better and raise more money for a tremendous cause.”
The Warburton has grown to become “St. Jude Week in the Desert,” all to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital – which is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
Each year, The Classic Club hosts numerous charitable events and golf tournaments, such as The Warburton, which collectively raise more than $5 million annually for local and national causes.
“It is both exciting and gratifying that so many charitable organizations are able to raise funds through events held at The Classic Club,” added Rubino. “We are honored to partner with a number of incredible charities and help give back to the community we live, work and play in.”
