Wayrobo Brings WayPick 2 to the Portugal Invitational 2026

September 7, 2026

WayPick 2 operated on the driving range during the Portugal Invitational 2026 at The Els Club Vilamoura, marking another step in the adoption of robotic golf ball collection in Portugal.

WayPick 2 at The Els Club Vilamoura

The Portugal Invitational 2026, part of the PGA TOUR Champions schedule, took place at The Els Club Vilamoura in Portugal. During the event, Wayrobo worked with local partner Alvorada Tech to deploy WayPick 2 on the driving range for golf ball collection.

Rather than being brought to the event simply as a product demonstration, WayPick 2 operated in a real golf environment and performed the task it was designed for: collecting golf balls on the driving range throughout the event.

Designed specifically for driving ranges and practice facilities, WayPick 2 combines autonomous navigation with a dedicated golf ball collection system. By handling repetitive ball-picking work, it can help facilities reduce routine labor demands and maintain more consistent range operations.

Building Local Support in Portugal

The event also strengthened Wayrobo’s cooperation with Alvorada Tech, its local partner in Portugal.

As more golf facilities explore automation, local knowledge and technical support are important to successful adoption. Alvorada Tech supports Wayrobo’s presence in the Portuguese market and works with local golf facilities interested in robotic ball collection.

“Modern golf facilities are constantly looking for ways to improve efficiency while maintaining a high-quality player experience. WayPick 2 represents a practical solution for smarter golf operations,” said Alexandre Barroso, owner of Alvorada Tech.

From Tournament to Everyday Operations

The Portugal Invitational provided a real operating environment for WayPick 2, but the need for golf ball collection continues long after a tournament ends.

For driving ranges, collecting golf balls is a recurring task that requires staff time and consistent effort. Automating this process can help facilities reduce routine work while allowing teams to focus on other areas of range and facility operations.

By putting WayPick 2 to work at The Els Club Vilamoura, Wayrobo demonstrated how robotic ball collection can fit into a professional golf environment and continued its expansion in the Portuguese and wider European golf markets.

Wayrobo Global Service Network

Wayrobo is building a global service network through partnerships with trusted local companies that bring regional expertise and qualified after-sales capabilities. This network enables Wayrobo to provide responsive local support and long-term service to golf facilities across different markets.
