Wells Fargo Winners Wore Cleated Shoes

May 6, 2019

WELLS FARGO CHAMPIONSHIP VICTORY IN CLEATS A LIFE CHANGER FOR WINNER

BRENTWOOD, Tenn., – It was a wet weekend in Charlotte at the PGA TOUR’s Wells Fargo Championship but the winner kept his feet firmly on the ground thanks to his FootJoy® Icon shoes featuring Softspikes® Pulsar Fast Twist® 3.0 cleats. As a result, he’s doubled his career earnings, moved up to number 35 on the FedEx Cup standings and will be playing in next week’s PGA Championship.

“That win was a life-changing event for this young man,” said John Hohman, senior vice president of marketing for PrideSports®. “This was a loaded field and he was able to maintain his composure for a great three-stroke victory. The rain made for some long days and also reinforced the importance of wearing cleated footwear to maintain traction on the wet, slippery ground. That’s why 30 of the top 37 finishers chose replaceable cleat technology over spikeless/athletic shoes.”

This was also the case on the other tours across the U.S. The winner of the LPGA MEDIHEAL Championship overcame a rough start to win on the first playoff hole wearing FootJoy DryJoy® shoes with Softspikes Pulsar cleats. These cleats were also on the FootJoy Arc SL shoes of the PGA Tour Champions Insperity Invitational winner, while the victorious golfer at the Web.com’s Nashville Golf Open wore FootJoy Icon shoes with Champ® Stinger cleats.

Replacement Softspikes® and Champ cleats can be purchased in the golf section of most large retailers, sporting goods stores, golf specialty and golf course pro shops across the country. Cleats can also be purchased online from any of these locations, your favorite online store or directly from www.golfspikes.com.

PrideSports is the undisputed leader in the golf cleat segment with its CHAMP and Softspikes brands. The company recommends golfers change their cleats every six to eight months – or even more frequently based on use – to ensure golfers get the maximum performance out of their footwear.

CHAMP’s Helix®, Zarma Tour® and Stinger® cleats, as well as Softspikes’ Pivix®, Pulsar®, Silver Tornado® and Stealth® cleats, dominate the OEM and secondary market in terms of performance and sales. More information can be found at www.champspikes.comand www.softspikes.com.
