Estero, Florida – The West Bay Club, a luxury community in Estero, Fla., has been awarded the prestigious ‘Distinguished Club – Elite Level’ distinction by BoardRoom magazine for the fourth consecutive year. Each year, BoardRoom magazine, the official publication of the Association of Private Club Directors, recognizes a select number of Distinguished Clubs based on a proprietary criteria and evaluation process that distills and measures a club’s Member Experience.
BoardRoom magazine’s entirely merit-based Distinguished Clubs award program uses a club-specific rating system that recognizes the club, its management, and its staff. According to BoardRoom’s Evaluation Report, West Bay Club attained an ‘Elite’ designation in exceeding the required criteria in the areas of nomination, survey answers, Net Promotor Score, Overall Member Experience Index, post-survey evaluation thresholds, and also met a majority of 12 other criteria as part of the onsite survey process.
“This remarkable achievement is a testament to the unwavering commitment, dedication, and passion of our community and club staff, and the invaluable support from our members and residents,” said West Bay Club General Manager and COO, Tom Tripoli. “The Distinguished Clubs Award is a highly esteemed recognition within the private club industry. This thorough process is done by industry experts, and is therefore a testament to the level of excellence and the extraordinary service we continually strive to provide. This achievement reflects the dedication of your team, the appeal of our renovated facilities, and the vibrant spirit that we have cultivated here.”
The Distinguished Clubs award program is a stepped process that can be summarized as follows:
Committee Nomination: In order for a club to participate in the Distinguished Clubs award program, it must first be officially nominated by the Distinguished Clubs Nomination Committee, a diverse group comprised of some of the most highly regarded leaders in the private club industry.
Site Visit: An in-person site visit is conducted to evaluate and compile the many contributing facets of each “Quality Criteria” that collectively comprise a club’s overall Member Experience.
Formulaic Audit: Based on the compiled site-visit data, Distinguished Clubs personnel applies the proprietary formula to distill and quantify the club’s unique Member Experience quotient.
Report: A confidential Evaluation Report is issued to the club’s general manager.
Award & Recognition: If the Distinguished Clubs’ formulaic audit verifies that the club is delivering Member Experience at the highest level, Distinguished Club status is awarded, along with individual department leadership recognition.
Yearly Verification: Alternating year-to-year onsite survey visits and telephone-based interviews with club management are required to maintain Distinguished Club status.
West Bay Club members enjoy a host of new and newly renovated amenities, including an 18-hole golf course that was refreshed in 2018 by Fry/Straka and an updated Golf House, which was unveiled to members in January 2021. In addition, in 2022 the club debuted the new Niblick pub, the community’s Bay House activity center, a new poolside restaurant Aqua Café, and a new poolside fitness building and athletics and wellness center. And, late last year, construction plans were approved on West Bay’s final residential tower – The Island – with 86 units overlooking the golf course, Estero Bay and the Gulf of Mexico.
The third and final phase of a $20 million-plus renovation project is currently underway at West Bay Club’s private ocean-side amenity, the Beach Club. Located on the Gulf of Mexico, the old Key West-style building is being completely rebuilt, upgraded and expanded.
The member-owned private golf club and community is located adjacent to Estero Bay and borders 500 acres of nature preserve and wetlands. Residents of West Bay declare “this is their someday.” Troon Privé, the private club operations division of Troon, manages the award-winning club and community association.
