Recent event with Lanny Wadkins put spotlight on reimagination of golf course
AUSTIN, TX – As part of the ongoing reimagination of Westlake Country Club, the club recently hosted a membership preview day with PGA TOUR legend Lanny Wadkins. Wadkins, who along with design partner Kurt Bowman, is guiding work on various renovations to the golf course, led members through an intimate, hole-by-hole tour of the revitalized property before answering questions during a lunch panel discussion.
Westlake is in the middle of a multi-year, multi-million reinvestment project that has already seen the golf course, its bar, its pool deck and racquet sports area updated. The renovation of the Sports Club is underway and should be completed by the beginning of summer, while work on the Main Clubhouse is set to begin in October.
“Westlake Country Club has a rich legacy of community that spans 50 years, and this reimagining of our beloved club ensures that it can continue to provide that level of service for our members for the next 50 years,” said Chip Gist, general manager of Westlake. “It was a thrill to have World Golf Hall of Famer Lanny Wadkins show our members around the redesigned golf course, letting them get an up-close look at how he brought his vision to life. We’re grateful to him and the work he’s put in for our club, and we’re excited for what the next chapter holds for our members, staff and guests.”
The renovations are part of a broader, nationwide reinvestment strategy from Invited as it aims to enhance membership amenities and revitalize several properties across its portfolio. Westlake’s renovations incorporated feedback received from its membership, along with the vision of world-renowned architects and engineers. It is the largest club reinvention project in the history of Invited, touching every area and elevating every amenity at the property, including:
- Golf course upgrades from tee to green, led by the Lanny Wadkins design firm
- Modernizing aquatics facilities
- Resurfacing all tennis courts and adding new pickleball courts
- Upgrading fitness with the latest equipment
- Newly elevated outdoor dining experience at The Roost
Later this fall, the Main Clubhouse will see investments made to enhance its patio and social atmosphere through a revamped, rustic modern décor and expanded dining offerings.
