Mirasol’s Director of Instruction PGA President Suzy Whaley Named to GOLF’s Top 100 Teachers in America
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Florida – PGA President Suzy Whaley, PGA/LPGA, Director of Instruction at The Country Club at Mirasol, has been named to the prestigious GOLF’s Top 100 Teachers in America list.
Whaley, a PGA Master Professional, has also previously been named one of Golf Digest’s Top 50 instructors and was a two-time Connecticut PGA Section Teacher of the Year. Whaley was one of 16 new teachers to make GOLF’s elite list.
“It is a tremendous honor to be a Top-100 instructor,” Whaley said. “My passion is coaching, and I get great joy out of sharing in others’ golf journeys.”
Last November, Whaley became the first woman to serve as president of the PGA of America. She started teaching at Mirasol last year and is also the PGA Director of Instruction for Suzy Whaley Golf in Cromwell, Connecticut.
“Suzy has been great for Mirasol,” said Roger Kennedy Jr., PGA, Mirasol’s Director of Golf. “She’s talented and has a lot of energy. We definitely have seen more excitement with our junior program. She’s been a home run for us.”
Whaley became the first woman in 58 years to qualify for a PGA Tour event, when she played in the 2003 Greater Hartford Open, after winning the 2002 Connecticut PGA Championship. She is an LPGA Teaching and Club Professional member, who played on the LPGA Tour in 1993.
GOLF’s Top 100 Teachers in America list is the only national golf instructor search that combines outside academic and PGA Member peer review. Candidates are screened against 15 baseline criteria, including their teaching experience and accomplishments, student portfolio and peer ratings, along with their overall commitment to the growth of the game, both through volunteerism and their ability to use digital platforms.
