Reimagined course and upgraded guest amenities will offer an enhanced golf experience in the heart of Whistler, British Columbia
WHISTLER, British Columbia, Canada – Whistler Golf Club will welcome golfers back in July 2027 following a comprehensive multi-million-dollar renovation designed to enhance the course’s playability, beauty and safety.
The transformation marks an exciting new chapter for the iconic Arnold Palmer-designed course, which first opened in 1983. Located in the heart of one of Canada’s most celebrated mountain destinations, Whistler Golf Club has attracted golfers from around the world for more than four decades.
The course renovation is being led by golf course architect Thad Layton, formerly of Arnold Palmer Course Design. Key enhancements include:
- Redesigned tee complexes to create an enjoyable and engaging experience for golfers of all abilities.
- Updated bunkers to improve aesthetics and playability.
- Realigned greens on holes 3 and 12 to improve sightlines and player safety.
- Resurfacing of fairways and greens to improve playability.
- Updated cart paths to enhance movement and flow throughout the course.
“When we reopen in July 2027, golfers will discover a course that feels distinctly Whistler while offering a more contemporary and welcoming experience,” says Alan Kristmanson, General Manager of Whistler Golf Club. “These improvements will elevate the course’s playability, beauty and safety while preserving the character that has made Whistler Golf Club special for more than four decades.”
The broader redevelopment also includes a full renovation of Palmers Restaurant, upgrades to the clubhouse patio and a new snack shack beside the first hole offering convenient grab-and-go food and beverages. Together, the improvements will enhance the experience from arrival through to the final hole.
Whistler Golf Club and Palmers Restaurant will remain closed during the renovation period. The Whistler Driving Range and Whistler Golf Club Retail Shop will continue to operate according to their regular seasonal schedules.
“The July 2027 reopening will be an important milestone for golf in Whistler,” says Barrett Fisher, President and CEO of Tourism Whistler. “This investment will ensure Whistler Golf Club remains a premium, playable course capable of attracting and inspiring golfers from around the world for decades to come.”
Whistler’s golf experience brings together four championship courses: Whistler Golf Club, Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Club, Nicklaus North Golf Course and Big Sky Golf Club. Surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery, the destination offers exceptional golf alongside award-winning accommodations, dining and an extensive range of outdoor experiences.
