Spork, one of only two remaining LPGA Founders and an Honorary Member of Women in the Golf Industry (WIGI), took up the game in her youth and still continues playing and enjoying the game – now at age 93. Following her tour career, she was extremely instrumental in the development of the LPGA’s Professionals.
Spork twice-held the distinction as LPGA National Teacher of the Year and has been inducted into the PGA of America Hall of Fame. She is the well-deserving recipient of the Marilynn Smith Achievement Award and the Ellen Griffin Rolex Award along with other honors.
McMahon is excited about this event. “Shirley has been my mentor throughout my career and she is larger than life,” shared McMahon. “She remembers every detail from ‘back in the day’ and is so very passionate about the LPGA and golf today, still teaches, plays golf, and travels to LPGA events. This is an event you won’t want to miss. Her nuggets of wisdom are sensational, and you’ll see why they say: ‘Act like a Founder’’’.
WIGI-pedia is WIGI’s “go-to” educational series which highlights Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) from various segments of the golf industry. According to McMahon, the WIGI-pedia sessions are designed to enlighten, engage, and inform WIGI members and guests.
