Pikesville, Maryland – Three junior golfers from Woodholme Country Club in Pikesville represented Central Maryland well at the recent Under Armour Junior Winter Nationals in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. 15-year-old Landon Rottman won the 15-18-year-old age division, shooting a first round 76 and a second round 74 to finish three strokes ahead of the second-place finisher, while Cole Maller (age 16) finished 6th and Grant Stoler (age 18) placed 15th in a field that included 70 players of top junior golfers from across the U.S.
The talented trio qualified for the Under Armour Winter Nationals through a series of local events on the Southern Maryland Under Armour Tour, finishing in the top five in the 2024 overall standings in the local league. At 15, Rottman was one of the youngest competitors in the 15-18-year-old age division.
“Winning this tournament was one of my goals for 2025,” said Rottman who grew up playing golf at Woodholme Country Club from age three. “I put in hours of hard work and dedication, and it feels great to see it all pay off. I couldn’t have done it without the support of my coach, Bernie Najar, and my family. I’m excited for what lies ahead.”
“Finishing inside the Top 20 in a field of 70 was a fantastic achievement,” added Stoler. “It’s an incredible honor to place in the top 15 and make the Under Armour All-Star team for the second straight year. It is rewarding to see the hard work and dedication I’ve put in pay off on such a significant stage.”
Rottman (freshmen), Maller (sophomore) and Stoler (senior) all attend McDonogh School in Owings Mills. Each are active participants in Woodholme Country Club’s junior golf program, led by Head Professional Anthony Romano. All three boys aspire to continue their golf careers beyond high school
“My family and I joined Woodholme about three years ago, around the start of my golfing career,” said Maller. “The people and the facilities at Woodholme Country Club have helped me tremendously improve my golf game. From the indoor hitting bays to the fun challenging golf course, I couldn’t imagine a better setup to succeed in golf.”
