CARLSBAD, Calif. – The world’s No. 1 golfer used Nippon Shaft’s N.S.PRO MODUS³ Hybrid Tour X-flex shaft in his utility iron enroute to winning his first Memorial Tournament title with host Jack Nicklaus looking on.

The 27-year-old Texan shot an 8-under par total of 280 with rounds of 67-68-71-74 at Muirfield Village in Dublin, Ohio to win the PGA Tour Signature event and take home a $4 million winner’s check. It was his 11th career PGA Tour victory and his fifth this year alone along with the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the Players, the Masters and the RBC Heritage. He also led the field in Strokes Gain: Tee to Green and Strokes Gained: Approach to the Green.

“Nippon Shaft congratulates the world’s No. 1 player on his victory at the Memorial, one of the game’s most prestigious events,” said Hiro Fukuda, sales and marketing for Nippon Shaft. “We are very proud that he relied our N.S.PRO MODUS³ Hybrid Tour X-flex shaft in his utility iron because he believed they gave him the best chance to win. Nippon Shaft’s breakthrough hybrid technology in shaft design combines the best qualities of steel and graphite so that tour-level players and everyday golfers can get the best out of their abilities.”

More than 200 players on the PGA Tour, LPGA Tour, European Tour and Korn Ferry Tour use Nippon Shaft’s MODUS³ series steel shafts to help gain their desired distance, accuracy, and trajectory.

Nippon Shaft products are available globally either as stock or custom shafts in many of the world’s top iron brands.  Details of these can be found at www.nipponshaft.com

Based in Yokohama, Japan, Nippon Shaft is the No. 1-selling steel shaft in Asia.  Nippon Shaft is a privately-held subsidiary of NHK Spring Co. LTD, a Japanese automobile parts manufacturer.  Nippon Shaft’s North American headquarters is in Carlsbad.
