Youth on Course Announces Partnership with New Hampshire Golf Association
Affordable Rounds for Kids Now Available in Hub of Golf History
Youth on Course – the non-profit organization providing young people with subsidized golf, college scholarships, caddie programs and paid internships – partners with New Hampshire Golf Association (NHGA) to bring affordable junior golf to the Granite State.
Members ages 6-18 in this district will be able to join the Youth on Course national network and access golf for $5 or less per round at 1,000 facilities across 29 states. With 18,000 golfers and 100 golf courses in their portfolio, NHGA plans to announce participating facilities in the coming weeks.
“With a rich history in the development of golf in the United States, New Hampshire’s community take great pride as stewards of amateur golf,” says Adam Heieck, Youth on Course CEO. “We’re excited to work together and impact the next generation of players by providing consistent access to affordable rounds.”
Since the founding of its junior tour in 1998, NHGA has consistently made junior golf a priority and this new partnership broadens their mission to grow the game. The Thorpe Family Foundation NHGA Junior Golf Tour has provided affordable and competitive playing opportunities, and the Youth on Course initiatives will add another level of affordability for juniors looking to get into the game. Starting this year, all members of the NHGA Junior Tour will automatically become members of Youth on Course. The one-time $25 membership allows juniors to participate in 9 and 18-hole tournaments held throughout the summer, also receiving a towel, bag tag, and sleeve of golf balls.
“When first introduced to Youth on Course, we knew it was a no-brainer for us to get involved,” says Matt Schmidt, Executive Director of the New Hampshire Golf Association. “We, along with our partner courses, are eager to give our community access to golf at an unprecedented level of affordability.”
Operating in every U.S. region, Youth on Course has more than 50,000 active members. Since 2006, juniors have played more than 10 million holes and 765,000 rounds while the organization has helped generate more than $5.2 million in tee-time revenue reimbursed back to individual golf courses. In addition to subsidized rounds, Youth on Course also facilitates paid internships, a caddie program and nationwide scholarships. They have awarded 223 students with college scholarships totaling more than $1.4 million in financial support. The current Youth on Course scholarship retention rate is ninety-four percent, with 80 students already graduated.
