Bandon, OR –December 22, 2005– In a time where the term "golf technology" brings to mind computer chips and interchangeable screws in golf clubs, some caddies from the Northwest are revolutionizing the concept of one of golf’s most simple products: the golf scorecard. Todd Petrey, Founding Partner of Drycard, Inc. says, "The idea of a waterproof scorecard was initially to combat sweat. I’ve caddied at East Lake Golf Course in Atlanta, Georgia, and in summer, keeping a scorecard safe from sweat is nearly impossible." But now, Drycard, Inc. is seeking to change all of that with a patent-pending design on a golf scorecard called a Drycardâ?¢, which works in any conditions.
Todd Petrey and Rushel Reed, another Caddie and Founder, both spent time in New Zealand last winter visiting and working at Kauri Cliffs and Cape Kidnappers. Rushel explains, "The trip to New Zealand was inspirational regarding the Drycardâ?¢ material. The New Zealand dollars are indestructible. While we don’t use their currency for scorecards, it started us on the right path. Since then, we’ve been customizing the process of manufacturing."
Drycardâ?¢ scorecards have been tested in Atlanta’s heat and the Pacific Northwest’s rain with very high marks. According to Todd, "Everyone who sees the demonstration is totally impressed. They are impressed when you dunk it in the water and when you write on it with a normal pencil. However, I think what really shocks most people is that you can erase your pencil marks when the card is soaking wet and then write on it again." The first person to see Drycardâ?¢ Technology at work was Jeff Brinegar, Golf Professional at Bandon Dunes Golf Club in Bandon, Oregon. "I was actually the first person to completely submerge this scorecard and then write and erase scores while the water was still dripping from the card. It’s amazing and it’s a no-brainer! At a comparable cost and twice the performance why wouldn’t you switch to the Drycardâ?¢?"
Drycard, Inc. feels the Drycardâ?¢ Technology delivers customer service as well as technology. Rushel clarifies, "Before Drycardâ?¢, it was frustrating to see golfers pay $200 for a round of golf, $100 for a Caddie, $500 for a driver, $1,200 for irons, plus lodging, airfare, food and seeing the one thing causing them stress is a .10¢ scorecard."
