Largest Golf-Based GPS Ad Promotion has Stunning Debut at Courses from Coast to Coast
(TEMPE, Ariz.) – ProLink Solutions, a majority-owned subsidiary of Amalgamated Technologies, Inc. (AGMN), the world’s leading provider of Global Positioning Satellite ("GPS") systems to golf courses, announced today that it has recently completed the largest golf-based advertising campaign undertaken to date.
The national campaign, shown on ProLink’s systems at 105 of the 700 golf courses in ProLink’s installed base, featured Cadillac’s all new, luxury automobile, the DTS. Deeming the campaign an overwhelming success was Chris Gilliam, President of AdverTickets one of, ProLink’s media Representatives.
The campaign was the first of its magnitude to marry a high-end brand with an affluent, captive audience using state-of-the-art GPS technology. Rotating Cadillac DTS ads appeared on high-resolution ProLink GPS monitors on golf carts at the 105 courses from September through November. Displayed for five holes per 18-hole round, golfers saw the ads an average of roughly 14 minutes per hole, with 15 impressions per round.
Consumer retention – or "stickiness" – was significant according to a follow-up survey conducted by Edison Media Research. The survey found that 42 percent of respondents noticed an advertisement on the GPS system; 70 percent of the respondents that noticed the advertisement recalled specifically seeing an advertisement for Cadillac DTS — 54 percent of which recalled the advertisement unaided. Younger golfers, under age 24, had an impressive recall of nearly 90 percent.
"With more than triple the installations of all its competitors combined, ProLink is uniquely positioned with the critical mass required to carry out a nation-wide or international campaign," says Chris Gilliam, AdverTickets President. "The demographics of golfers at courses where ProLink GPS systems are in use, and the ability to reach them with this unique form of advertising in a relaxed setting while they’re playing the game, represent an ideal fit with Cadillac’s brand-marketing strategy for a new-product roll-out."
The DTS model, available this fall at Cadillac dealerships throughout the U.S., is powered by a 4.6-liter Northstar V8 engine capable of producing 290 horsepower. Like the popular STS model, the DTS features Cadillac’s "Magnetic Ride Control," the world’s fastest reacting suspension system. Safety features include an industry-first dual-depth front passenger airbag that varies its inflated volume based on the severity of the crash and the occupant’s seating position.
"We are excited to launch ProLink’s national advertising program with a brand as highly respected as Cadillac," says Lawrence Bain, President and CEO of ProLink Solutions. Bain went on to state that "the value proposition for Cadillac and our participating golf courses is tremendous. We are also happy to have an advertising partner such as AdverTickets representing us in this process."
ProLink anticipates in 2006 to announce several other upscale consumer and business-to-business brands that will advertise on its GPS systems nationwide.
"Our golf course partners who display advertisements benefit from a unique compensation program," says Bain.
ProLink’s industry-leading GPS system boasts a high-resolution, color display unit neatly affixed to each golf cart. The easy-to-read screen displays pinpoint-accurate distances to the hole, as well as vibrant and easy-to-understand graphics of fairways, greens, hazards and other on-course geographical features. Better navigating the course and taking guesswork out of the game aids golfers’ shot selections and, in turn, speeds pace of play. Other features include ordering food and beverage at the touch of a button on the ninth and 18th tees, as well as personal scoring and tournament leaderboards featuring the only PGA-approved scoring system — "ScoreCast" software
