PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – The Northern California Section of the Professional Golfers’ Association is pleased to announce that PGA Member Shawn Kelly of the Ridge Golf Club (Auburn, Calif.) has been named Clubfitter of the Year. This award is bestowed upon a PGA Professional who exhibits great knowledge and expertise in clubfitting and who strives to improve the game through the use of properly fitted clubs. Kelly accepted the award in the presence of 330 fellow golf professionals and special guests at the NCPGA Annual Meeting and Awards Ceremony at Monterey Peninsula Country Club in Pebble Beach, Calif.
A four-time NCPGA Player of the Year, Kelly keenly understands the sport and spends a great deal of his time teaching students on the lesson tee. He also enjoys helping them secure proper equipment that best meets their needs. According to Kelly, club sales are on the increase at The Ridge since he established an onsite clubfitting program. He believes the 100 percent fit guarantee has been an additional benefit for customers interested in purchasing new equipment.
Kelly has attended numerous seminars on clubfitting, and is certified by Henry Griffits, TaylorMade, Titleist and Tour Edge. Because of his expansive client base, he continues to offer several product equipment lines at varying price structures.
As an experienced fitter, in 2005, Shawn helped develop the clubfitting application for DivotMat a new golf-training product that has been launched nationally and utilized in NCPGA Growth of the Game efforts.
