PEBBLE BEACH, Calif.- The Northern California Section of the Professional Golfers’ Association is pleased to announce that PGA Member Scott Krause of Eagle Ridge Golf Club (Gilroy, Calif.) has been named 2005 Teacher of the Year. This highly coveted distinction is presented to a PGA member who has performed outstanding service as a golf instructor, and who is dedicated to growing the game of golf. Krause was honored at the NCPGA Annual Meeting and Awards Ceremony at Monterey Peninsula Country Club in Pebble Beach, Calif.
As PGA Director of Instruction, Krause oversees all player development programs at Eagle Ridge Golf Club. He is well respected by both his peers and students. He believes that every golf lesson should be a positive, learning experience, and makes a point to integrate the use of computer technology in his clinics and classes.
Besides his regular assignments at Eagle Ridge, Krause is responsible for scheduling golf classes for the City of Morgan Hill and the Gilroy Recreation Department. He also teaches golf classes at the nearby Gavilan Community College (Gilroy, Calif.) and in support of the endeavor, Krause received a grant from The PGA of America. He recently received a Growth of the Game Grant from The PGA of America that provides funds for golf classes for Hispanic youth.
Krause is a member of The PGA of America President’s Council and participates every May in Play Golf America’s Free Lesson Month. Because of his dedication to juniors and the future of golf, Krause created a way to temporarily convert the range and practice area at Eagle Ridge into a 5-hole course for kids.
He writes a weekly golf column for The Pinnacle newspaper, and previously wrote about golf for the Gilroy Dispatch. His golf tips have been published in Fairways & Greens Magazine.
Krause looks forward to the 2006 NCPGA Player and Teacher Development Forum (Sacramento, Calif.) where he will share his teaching philosophy with colleagues, who are also passionate about teaching golf.
"Scott is a seasoned instructor who has been dedicated to both teaching the game and growing the game of golf," said NCPGA Awards Chairman Jay Mc Daniel. "He gives of himself endlessly and with great enthusiasm, qualities one would expect to find in an outstanding Teacher of the Year."
