BEAVERTON, Ore. (January 10, 2006) – The success of Nike Golf’s Slingshot technology is building from the original Slingshot irons and the new Slingshot OSS irons, both of which earned Golf Digest’s Editor’s Choice awards in 2004 and 2005, respectively. Based on the remarkable popularity of these two game-improvement products, Nike Golf is broadening the Slingshot franchise by integrating its successful technology into the new Slingshot Tour irons, the Slingshot Tour Hybrids and Slingshot Hybrids.
Slingshot Tour Irons
For players who prefer a classic iron profile packed with modern technology, Nike Golf has created the Slingshot Tour irons. Contrary to the original Slingshot and Slingshot OSS irons, the distinctive Slingback design in the Slingshot Tour irons is not as visible in the playing position. This shallower Slingback design along with minimal offset, allows for more shot-shaping creativity. These more traditional irons feature a Custom 455 face material with a thinner top-line. To enhance feel, the Slingshot Tour irons’ body is made of 431 stainless steel which is 25% softer than the more commonly used 17-4 stainless steel. These irons come with Dynamic Gold Shafts by True Temper.

Nike Golf’s Slingshot technology is entering the hybrid category for the first time with its Slingshot Tour Hybrid and Slingshot Hybrid, available in stores nationwide in February and March, respectively.
Slingshot Tour Hybrid
With the help of some of Nike Golf’s Tour staff, Nike Golf has created the new Slingshot Tour Hybrid. The mandate from the players was that it would need to have clean lines, compact shape and minimal offset. The Slingshot Tour Hybrid incorporates Slingshot technology in a Tour-driven iron-wood design. Nike Golf has utilized more advanced materials and design compared to most hybrids with a lighter/hotter face material and lower and deeper CG. With its deeper CG, these hybrids create higher launching and softer landing shots. The compact shape and minimal offset provide the workability required at the game’s highest level. The Slingshot Tour Hybrids feature a thinner/lighter, stronger, faster Carpenter Custom 455 Stainless Steel face that results in a higher MOI for resistance to twisting. A non-glare matte finish makes these hybrids as easy to look at as the shots they produce. They come with the hDiamana Tour Graphite Shaft by Mitsubishi and the Dynamic Gold SL Steel Shaft by True Temper.
Nike Golf’s Tour staff members, Stewart Cink and Trevor Immelman played with the Slingshot Tour Hybrids during the 2005 PGA Tour season.

Slingshot Hybrids
The extremely low CG of the Slingshot Hybrids is made possible by the weight-saving carbon crown and low-slung Slingback design. These design elements drive 70% of the clubhead mass below the equator of the ball. The CG is positioned deeper in the clubhead as a result of the added thickness of the Slingback bar (twice that of a normal fairway wood), hot/lightweight Carpenter Custom 455 stainless steel faceplate, moderate offset and wood-like footprint. The low/deep CG and generous offset of these hybrids facilitate higher, longer, and straighter shots. They come with the hDiamana Graphite Shaft by Mitsubishi and the Speed Step Light/Constant Weight Steel Shaft by True Temper.
