January 23, 2006

Carlsbad, CA . . . MRC Composite Products – USA announced today the company will release a second new shaft series named Bassaraâ?¢ at the upcoming 2006 PGA Merchandise Show. The new shaft will be a complement to the existing Diamana® product lines and marks the third in a trio of successful shaft products developed by the global manufacturer to be launched to the US Market. Bassara will launch in March of 2006, and will be distributed widely to meet the needs of players eager for a versatile, high performance shaft at a price that makes it feasible for any golfer wanting the most from their game.

Bassara delivers the premium feel and performance players have come to expect from MRC Composite Products – USA. With a softer bend profile and more moderate torque values compared to the Diamana series, Bassara provides the perfect balance between playability and high performance and is a shaft that works for both TOUR players and aspiring amateurs alike.

"Bassara’s high performance combined with a very attractive price will be a great combination in the marketplace," said Mark Gunther, National Sales Director, North America for MRC Composite Products — USA. "Bassara has already shown that it will work for players at the highest level since it was played at this year’s SONY Open, but has a profile that will work for golfers with a wide range of skill levels."

Bassara will be available in three weights: 63, 73 and 83-gram. The 63-gram is the most popular and is crafted with the player in mind who requires lightweight impact with maximum speed off the head. The 73 and 83-gram weights combine power, stability and are smooth through impact. Both make excellent fairway wood shafts for the player who prefers using a mid or lightweight driver shaft.

MRC manufactures all the raw materials, including the monomer, acrylic fiber, carbon fiber, resin and prepreg for Bassara, making MRC the only fully vertically integrated manufacturer in the industry. The result: a graphite shaft designed for and played by the best in the world.
