Broadcast Spots to Begin Airing Around the Year’s First Major

CARLSBAD, Calif. (April 5, 2006) – "More than a reporter, I AM A GOLFER" is a potential future execution of TaylorMade-adidas Golf Company’s new ad campaign called, "I AM A GOLFER," launching in April around the first major of the season. The integrated marketing campaign features broadcast and print executions capturing golfers’ passion for the game in comparison to other, seemingly critical, parts of their lives.

"Every part of an avid golfer’s life somehow relates to golf," said Sean Toulon, TaylorMade’s executive vice president of product and brand creation. "At work or play, at our desk or in the car, we find ourselves thinking about golf. Dedication that runs that deep has to define us and that’s what this campaign celebrates."

A :60 second "Anthem Spot" will begin running on the Golf Channel April 7. The spot features a montage of PGA Tour stars and amateurs with a compelling voiceover passionately describing every golfer’s connection to the game, and its connection to them. Print executions running in April editions of golf trade and consumer magazines feature Mike Weir with the tagline, "More than a Master’s Champion… I AM A GOLFER." While another ad highlights Bob Wilson, executive director, National Amputee Golf Association, says "More Than a Survivor… I AM A GOLFER."

Golfers already understand the superior technology found in TaylorMade equipment but they may not understand that we share their same passion for the sport," said Toulon. "’I AM A GOLFER’ shares our love for the game and allows golfers to connect to the soul of our brand."

The campaign will continue to expand with new broadcast and print executions, point-of-sale materials, a dedicated web site, special events and sales promotions around the world. Each spot reinforces TaylorMade’s authenticity, while highlighting new examples of the role the sport plays in defining golfers’ lives.

San Diego-based advertising agency NYCA created "I AM A GOLFER" in conjunction with TaylorMade’s internal marketing team. The campaign represents the foundation of the company’s print and broadcast advertising for the year around the world.
