In the month to 15 June 2006 the Golfalot Price Index, which tracks the average price of golf equipment from UK retailers, fell slightly by 0.63%.
Golf shoes showed the biggest gains of any sector with a 2.8% rise as Puma’s new premium priced shoes hit the market. Drivers and golf balls were both up by just over 1%. The biggest falling category was the ever-volatile trolley sector with a 2.8% fall in prices, as some newer models started to be discounted. Iron prices fell slightly by 0.7%, but apart from that most other sectors held the prices around the same level as last month. With the World Cup in full swing it will be interesting to see if sales over the next month will be enough to maintain the downward pressure on prices created by the late start to the UK golf season.
The Golfalot Price Index tracks the prices of the latest model(s) from each manufacturer are chosen as they reach the market so the models tracked always reflect pricing on what the serious golfer wants, the latest technology. Prices are taken from Golfalot.com’s market leading golf equipment price comparison service which tracks all the prices every day from every major UK golf retailer with a national pricing policy.
