DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., Sept. 18, 2006 – The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) today announced that the 2009 Solheim Cup will be played from Aug. 21-23. The 2009 Solheim Cup at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill., will be the 11th staging of the event and the sixth in the United States, where the U.S. Solheim Cup Team has a perfect 5-0 record.
"We are thrilled to be staging the event in August 2009," said Kelly Hyne, The Solheim Cup tournament director. "The event will give fans the opportunity to cap off their summer with The Solheim Cup in Chicagoland where the buzz is already building around the event. In addition to great competition, the golf world is going to experience one of the finest new gems in Rich Harvest Farms. It is a fantastic course and offers an ultimate riskreward layout that will set-up beautifully for match play."
Rich Harvest Farms is located just west of Chicago and three hours north of where the last Solheim Cup was held in the United States in 2005 at the famed Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel, Ind. Tickets to the 2009 Solheim Cup will go on sale in September 2007.
