AUGUSTA, GA – Georgia Golf Hall of Fame recognizes the passing of one of the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame’s legends, Ms. Eileen Stulb. Ms. Stulb, of Augusta, GA, passed away this morning at the age of 83.
Eileen Stulb was born June 23, 1923, in Augusta, Georgia. Ms. Stulb was the first girl to make the Augusta College Golf Team. She was runner-up in the Titleholders Championship twice, considered for many years to be the equivalent of the men’s Masters® Tournament. In the Women’s Western Amateur, she was a quarter-finalist on two occasions. Ms. Stulb won the Georgia Women’s State Amateur twice. She has played in the USGA Women’s Amateur seven times, the USGA Women’s Open and the USGA Women’s Senior Amateur.
"Eileen’s contributions to golf and leadership in life earned her the respect of her community, her peers, the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame members, Board of Directors and staff", stated Chairman of the Hall of Fame Board, Bryan Persons. "Eileen will be missed."
Ms. Stulb was a member of the Augusta Country Club. She served on the Board of Directors for the Georgia State Women’s Association, the Women’s Eastern Association, the Titleholders Association, the USGA Senior Women’s Committee and was local chairwoman for the 1971 USGA Girls Junior Championship held at the Augusta Country Club.
"I will miss her, she was an inspiration and mentor to me since I started playing golf as a young girl," said Laura Coble, Head Woman’s Golf Coach at Augusta State University.
