Gastonia, NC/Lombard, IL – Representatives from Infiniti Golf and AccuFLEX Golf immediately "sprang into action" when they found out about a heartfelt letter sent by the wife of a United States soldier currently stationed in Iraq. This proud "Army Wife," as she refers to herself in her letter, wanted to do something "special" for her husband, Sgt. Anthony Cattelino, to relieve some of the unbelievable stress that her husband and the other men and women currently stationed in Iraq have to deal with on a daily basis.
She wrote the letter to PGA.com. Coordinating Producer John Kim was the first to become aware of Mrs. Cattelino’s letter and he got the two companies involved. The people from Infiniti Golf and AccuFLEX Golf, who have a tremendous appreciation for what our troops are doing overseas to serve this great country of ours, were more than happy to join with Mr. Kim and help Sgt. Cattelino and our troops.
The following are excerpts from the letter that Tracey Cattelino, Proud Army Wife of Sgt. Anthony Cattelino, wrote to describe her courageous husband.
"First, (Tony is) the ultimate family man. With a loving wife and three daughters, not to leave out 2 dogs. Tony joined the Army at the age of 33 because he wanted to serve his country-not because he needed to, had to, or for any other reason.
Second, Tony is an amazing Soldier. In the four years since his enlistment as a Private, he has "fast tracked" (as the Army refers to it) to Sergeant. His job title, without using all the military jargon, is a Heavy Truck Driver. He runs recovery missions bringing back equipment from other missions that for one reason or another did not make it back to base. Also, he frequently drives supply missions as security or hauling the supplies.
Last, but definitely not least, Tony is an avid Golfer-and quite good if you ask me (admittedly the terrible golfer!) He began playing as a child with his father at the age of 7 and grew to love the game, playing through high school and continues to be passionate about his game now. Unfortunately the last four years he has spent 3 in the deserts of Iraq unable to play."
"We’re thankful to PGA.COM and John Kim who helped put this effort together, said Eric Yeh, President of Infiniti Golf. "But of course, we are most thankful everyday to the men and women of our armed forces like Sgt. Cattelino who are stationed in Iraq and other outposts".
Jody Baucom, President of AccuFLEX Golf said, "If sending these clubs provides them an opportunity to escape for just an hour or so from the harsh reality of what they have to deal with every dayâ?¦then its well worth it." Baucom also added, "Being that Tony is an avid golfer, we thought it might be nice to send him some Infiniti golf clubs, with AccuFLEX shafts, so he could get back to playing the game that he loves so much," "it’s a small token of our appreciation, but it’s the least we can do."
