Srixon Staffers Record Top-10s in 8 Consecutive Events
ATLANTA — February 5, 2007 Srixon Staff Professional Robert Allenby finished in a tie for 5th place at the Honda Classic at PGA National Resort and Spa, Palm Beach Gardens, FL on Sunday, March 5, 2007. It was the long hitting Aussie’s 5th Top-10 of the season in 6 events. In fact, he has recorded a Top-10 in every stroke play event in which he has competed this year. Starting the day in solo 6th place, Allenby battled his way back into contention at the newly redesigned Champion Course at PGA National to fire a final round 68 and finish one stroke out of the 4-way playoff.
Armed with Srixon’s Z-UR Golf Ball, W-403 Driver and Fairway Woods, I-506 irons, and Forged Wedges Allenby’s distance off the tee and precision ball striking helped overcome the most difficult golf course of the year thus far on tour. He ranked 10th in greens in regulation and 3rd in driving distance for the week, with an average of 308.6 yards including a whopping 322 yard average during the final round. Allenby has now earned $932,150 in just six events and moves up to 12th in the season long FedExCup points race.
Allenby’s 5th place finish at the Honda Classic was the 8th consecutive event (and 8th of 9 total) that one or more Srixon Staff Professionals have earned Top 10 finishes, dating back to the second event of the year, the Sony Open in Hawaii. All together, Srixon Staff Professionals have earned 11 Top 10s during the 2007 PGA Tour season including Henrik Stenson’s victory last week at the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship. Srixon now has four players in the top-15 on the FedExCup points standing, (Jim Furyk – 14th, Robert Allenby – 12th, Henrik Stenson – 10th, John Rollins – 4th).
