Master Member of the PGA of America to Provide Golf Instruction on Internet’s Most Popular Golf and Travel Related Web Site

March 5, 2007, Myrtle Beach, S.C. – Dr. Gary Wiren, one of the country’s most-respected golf instruction authorities, will begin his regular blog on WorldGolf.com Monday, March 5. Recognized by both Golf Digest and GOLF Magazine as one of the leading golf teachers in the United States, Wiren is currently the Senior Director of Instruction for Trump Golf Properties and a member of six Golf Halls of Fame, including the PGA Hall of Fame and the World Golf Teachers Hall of Fame. As a PGA Master Professional, Wiren attained a level of teaching expertise reached by only 209 of the 27,000 PGA of America members. The author of 11 books and 200 articles on golf, Wiren will contribute golf instruction to WorldGolf.com readers while touching on other topics of interest to all avid golfers.

During his career, Wiren has garnered many awards including the National Golf Foundation’s "Joe Graffis Award" for educational contributions to golf, the LPGA’s "Wind Under Wings," Distinguished Service Awards from the Swedish Golf Union and Italian Golf Federation, and the National Merit Award from the Golf Course Owners Association of America. Selected by the PGA of America as its "National Teacher of the Year" in 1987, Wiren has consistently been named by Golf Magazine as one of "America’s 100 Best Teachers" and by Golf Digest as a "Top 50 Instructor."

Wiren has competed in the USGA Senior Open and the PGA Senior Championship, spent six years on Golf Digest’s professional staff and now sits on the Golf Digest selection panel for "America’s Greatest 100 Courses." Wiren is a past board member of the National Golf Foundation, the American Junior Golf Association and the Children’s Golf Foundation. Wiren obtained his doctorate in sports science from the University of Oregon. For more information on Gary Wiren, visit garywiren.com.

"Golf can be a fascinating subject on which to share one’s opinions and I have chosen to do that with WorldGolf.com," said Wiren. "Just think of the variety of potential subjects: playing the game, course design, agronomy, history, personalities, equipment, the Tours, instruction, and more. I look forward to it."

"Dr. Wiren is a giant in the field of golf instruction, as his multiple Hall of Fame inductions show," WorldGolf.com Editor and Chief Operating Officer Mark Nessmith said. "He’s also a genuinely nice person with enormous respect for the game and its history. It’s a tremendous honor for me to welcome him into the WorldGolf.com family."
