OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Players Turf Systems has successfully completed the installation of a synthetic turf practice facility at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio.
The hallmark of the indoor facility is the 3,000 square foot putting and chipping area located in the center of the 8,000 square foot building. In addition to the short game practice area, Players Turf Systems installed their famed Tee Line in the hitting bays of Kent State’s 40-acre outdoor driving range. (Tee Line is a non-filled nylon material that is used in areas where natural grass is too difficult to grow or maintain).
"With a dozen high profile collegiate golf facilities completed in the last two years, we have developed an impressive resume and reputation in this arena," said Ray Sever, Director or Sales for Players Turf Systems. "We appreciate the opportunity to be an instrumental part of creating the finest collegiate golf experience for the nation’s top players."
The new Kent State facility, which opened March 5, was privately funded by friends of the Kent State golf teams and alumni. It will be used as a training facility by both the men’s and women’s teams and will be known as the Kent State Teaching and Learning Center.
Herb Page, the Director of Golf and Head Golf Coach was very impressed by the personal service he received from Players Turf Systems.
"The hands-on service and meticulous installation process we’ve experienced working with Players Turf Systems has been exceptional, said Page. "Ray has visited the site three times himself to check on the project. I’ve been amazed at the detailed supervision of the project and the passion and commitment Players Turf Systems brought to the table. Their passion matches our passion as coaches. The relationship has been extremely synergistic."
Sever agreed with Page’s assessment of the company’s passion displayed in the Kent State project.
"This is the way we approach every project," Sever said. "We believe that these types of practice facilities are vital to the growth of the game. This is where players go to improve their golf skills. We know that recreating the most realistic look and feel of natural grass enhances that experience. Improvement will translate into better scores. Better scores make the game more enjoyable and will compel people to play more often."
