MIAMI – Strategic Shaft Technologies has announced a new marketing campaign for its SST PURE® Shaft Alignment technology, focusing on the concept that "Every Golf Shaft Has A Sweet Spotâ?¢."
The computerized SST PURE process analyzes any golf shaft to locate its most stable bending plane. When assembled in this orientation, off-line bending and twisting due to shaft irregularities is greatly minimized or eliminated.
"Our technology is based on the fact that there is one plane in each shaft that performs more consistently than any other," SST founder Dick Weiss said. "Only SST PURE can locate that "sweet spot" that exists in every shaft."
In 1999, former technical director of the USGA Frank Thomas said that shaft manufacturers "have not yet been able to assure us that they can maintain tolerances which greatly minimize or eliminate assymetries in twisting and bending." That statement still holds true today. Changing the orientation of a golf shaft in a clubhead will affect the way that shaft performs, and only SST PURE can locate its most stable position. Upon having one’s shafts SST PURE aligned, a player receives a personalized computer printout confirming the process and an SST PURE shaft label for every shaft that has been PUREd.
Using proprietary computer software and sensitive data-acquisition sensors, the SST PURE shaft alignment process analyzes the structural irregularities that exist to some degree in every golf shaft and locates the shaft’s most stable orientation. By assembling the club with the shaft in its PURE orientation, off-line bending and twisting of the shaft are minimized and impact repeatability on the center of the clubface by the golfer improves up to 51 percent. The process can be performed on existing clubs, new clubs or new shafts – steel or graphite – from most major manufacturers.
