The 61st Annual Meeting of the American Society of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA) will be held Apr. 27 – May 2, 2007, where Dr. Michael Hurdzan, ASGCA will receive the 2007 Donald Ross Award.
The Donald Ross Award, ASGCA’s highest honor, will be presented at the Ross Banquet on Apr. 30 in the Westin Buckhead hotel. The recognition is made annually to an individual who has made significant contributions to the golf industry and the profession of golf course architecture. Hurdzan is a pioneering and recognized leader on golf and environmental issues, including service as past chairman of the Environmental Institute for Golf. He has written six books, including his textbook "Golf Course Architecture: Design, Construction and Renovation," which as been translated into German, Korean and Chinese. He is also author of the ASGCA publication "Building a Practical Golf Facility," now in its second printing.
The Annual Meeting provides a venue for ASGCA members to focus on current issues such as technology and the environment. Several ASGCA members and golf industry leaders will lead panel discussions on golf course design and construction. The first ASGCA Annual Meeting was held in Pinehurst in 1947 and was hosted by ASGCA co-founder Donald Ross.

Founded in 1946 by 14 leading architects, including Donald Ross and Robert Trent Jones, Sr., the American Society of Golf Course Architects is a non-profit organization comprised of 176 golf course designers located throughout the United States and Canada. Members are actively involved in the design of new courses, the renovation of existing layouts and issues affecting the future of the game.
