Bedminster, N.J., March 28, 2007 … Debby Murphy has been hired as the new women’s teaching professional at the award-winning Trump National Golf Club, Bedminster.

An experienced teaching professional and LPGA competitor, Murphy was the LPGA’s Teaching Professional of the Year in 2001 and named among Golf For Women magazine’s top 50 instructors that same year.

"We’re excited to add Debby’s talents to our golf staff," said Mickie Gallagher III, head golf professional. "Our membership will certainly benefit from her vast knowledge and experience."

Previously, Murphy served as teaching professional at Bear Lakes Country Club in West Palm Beach, Florida where she focused on individual instruction, video and playing lessons. Murphy also was employed at Webster Golf Club in Webster, New York where her concentration was junior and private instruction. During her tenure, she founded and directed the Webster Golf Camp for juniors.

A Class A member of the PGA of America and also, an LPGA Teaching and Club Professional (T&CP), Murphy is certified through the Titleist Performance Institute. On the competitive circuit Murphy has numerous top-five finishes including fifth in the 2004 LPGA T&CP National Championship, third place in the 2002 PGA Women’s Championship and second place in 2001.

She played on the Australian LPGA Tour from 1992 to 1995 and has participated in the Australian Open and Australian Masters.

Returning to the Bedminster team this season is Joe Griffin, as assistant golf professional who previously served as an intern last season. Currently enrolled in the PGA of America’s Professional Golf Management (PGM) apprentice program, Griffin will focus on tournament operations, merchandising and member relations, with a support role in instruction.

Trump National, Bedminster, designed by world-renowned golf course architect Tom Fazio, has been recognized by Golf Magazine, Golf Digest and Golf Inc. among the best golf courses in the world since opening in 2004. The club is also the recipient of the International Star Diamond Award from the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences (2005).
