Duffy House named tournament director
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., March 30, 2007 – The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) announced today that the ADT Championship will continue to be played at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Fla., through 2008.
The season-ending championship, which concludes the LPGA Playoffs 2007, will take place Nov. 15-18 and will once again feature a record $1 million first-place paycheck for the second consecutive year.
"The LPGA is pleased to continue showcasing the world’s best players and the ADT Championship at Trump International Golf Club," said Carolyn Bivens, LPGA commissioner. "Trump International is one of the most beautiful and challenging golf courses and it provides a scenic backdrop for one of our marquee events, and is a fitting stage to conclude the LPGA Playoffs 2007 where we will award a $1 million first-place prize."
The 2007 ADT Championship will mark the seventh staging at Trump International.
"ADT has enjoyed bringing the best of women’s golf to Palm Beach County and to Trump International for six years and we couldn’t be happier that this tradition will continue," said John B. Koch, president of ADT North America. "Mr. Trump has been an ideal host and Trump International is the perfect setting for this caliber of an event."
LPGA Playoffs 2007 is a yearlong competitive structure that includes a regular season, which splits the LPGA schedule into two halves. Fifteen players from each half qualify for the ADT Championship using a performance-based points system—ADT Points—throughout the year. Two wild cards will complete the 32-player field. The winner of the 2007 ADT Championship, which features three days of "playoffs" plus the final championship round, will earn $1 million.
"I’m a huge fan of the LPGA, and I am very excited that the best players in the world will continue playing here at Trump International," Donald Trump said. "This is a world-class championship golf course that is consistently ranked as one of the best. We will once again create an atmosphere and experience that the players and fans will never forget."
The LPGA also announced the hiring of Duffy House as tournament director for the ADT Championship. In his role, House will oversee national and local corporate sales, as well as expand the outreach of the ADT Championship within Palm Beach County and South Florida markets. Prior to the LPGA, House worked for the Orange Bowl as the manager of sponsorship sales (2003-2007) and as sales director at the Champions Tour’s Royal Caribbean Classic in Key Biscayne, Fla. (1998-2003).
The 2007 ADT Championship marks the first time that the LPGA will own and operate the event. It has been added to the LPGA owned-and-operated portfolio of tournaments that includes The Solheim Cup.
