Free Online Lesson Program Gives Personalized Tips from Golf’s Greatest Teachers and Players
NEW YORK, NY—Golf Digest has launched The Golf Digest Challenge—an online lesson program and call-to-action for golfers to beat their best scores, it was announced today by Jerry Tarde, Chairman and Editor-In-Chief of the magazine. Now in its second year, The Challenge allows golfers to get a free, personalized practice plan to help them achieve their scoring goals, whether it’s to break 100, 90, 80 – or go lower. The featured online program at www.golfdigest.com/challenge is supported by a supplemental print component appearing in the May issue of Golf Digest, on newsstands now.
"Once again we are urging golfers everywhere to make over their games by taking The Golf Digest Challenge," said Tarde. "Our goal is to build upon the success of last year’s program by continuing to give golfers the necessary tools to improve their scores."
The Golf Digest Challenge launched this week and is an extension of last year’s inaugural campaign. Golfers, from beginners to skilled players, can begin the program at any time, and registration is free.
After signing up at www.golfdigest.com/challenge, golfers will receive a personalized practice plan of tips and drills (there are now over 200 available, including 18 video drills ) from some of the best teachers and players in golf, including exclusive Golf Digest Playing Editors Phil Mickelson, Ernie Els and Annika Sorenstam, as well as Golf Digest Teaching Professionals Butch Harmon, David Leadbetter and Jim McLean. Golf Digest Challenge participants will also receive a Long Game and Short Game Handicap that pinpoints individual strengths and weaknesses.
This year’s Challenge allows users to get updated personal stats after each round they play and new tips and drills geared to their skill level and current form. There will also be an opportunity for golfers to "Bug A Buddy" and invite their friends to take the Challenge—a new addition to this year’s promotion.
A welcome video by Golf Digest Teaching Professional Butch Harmon appears on the home page of the Golf Digest Challenge, in which the No.1 teacher encourages users to track their scores and key stats in order to make the most of their practice time.
Registered participants of the Challenge will have the chance to enter the grand prize and daily prize drawings. There are three grand prizes this year: two trips for two to La Quinta Resort and Club in California, and one trip for two to Pinehurst Golf Academy in North Carolina. Daily prizes include Cobra Golf clubs and accessories, golf-training DVDs, and golf-improvement books.
