DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – For the third consecutive year, Golf For Women magazine will serve as the presenting sponsor of the 2007 American Expressâ?¢ Women’s Golf Week presented by Golf For Women magazine, a nationwide, grassroots program that introduces women to the game and encourages their development as players. This year’s event is scheduled for June 2-9 at more than 1,000 facilities across the United States.
"Golf For Women magazine is recognized nationally as an advocate for women in the game and as the ‘go-to’ resource for women golfers about equipment, fashion, and news," says Trish Davis, Chief Operating officer of the Executive Women’s Golf Association (EWGA), who chairs the American Express Women’s Golf Week presented by Golf For Women magazine organizing committee. "We are thrilled that Golf For Women continues to support the Women’s Golf Week vision of exposing and promoting the game to tens of thousands of women."
Golf For Women magazine’s national reach continues to be a major component in this industry initiative to grow the game among women: specifically, the goal for this year’s Women’s Golf Week is to reach 50,000 women at 1,200 facilities. Golf For Women magazine will run promotional ads to make readers aware of Women’s Golf Week events in their areas. Participants will also have the option to sign up for a subscription to Golf For Women.
"I’m delighted to continue Golf For Women’s support for Women’s Golf Week," said Susan K. Reed, the magazine’s editor in chief. "Our million-plus readers love the game and this program is a great way to expose women to the game, improve their skills, meet other women and grow the sport even more."
American Expressâ?¢ Women’s Golf Week presented by Golf For Women magazine provides the opportunity for women to learn and play golf in a women-friendly environment. The event reached more than 10,000 women in 2005, its inaugural year, and increased to 24,500 women participating in the program’s myriad of activities in 2006. Events are customized at each facility and include complimentary golf instruction among other golf and social events.
Women’s Golf Week was developed in response to input from golf industry leaders at the 2004 GOLF 20/20 Conference and is part of the Play Golf America campaign, the golf industry’s premier search engine for accessing information on player development programs for adults, women and families nationwide.
After advancing the program for two years, GOLF 20/20 handed over management responsibility for Women’s Golf Week to the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA), the Executive Women’s Golf Association (EWGA), The PGA of America (PGA) and the National Golf Course Owners Association (NGCOA), with ongoing support from other leading organizations in golf including the PGA TOUR, Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA), Club Managers Association of America (CMAA) and the United States Golf Association (USGA).
